The artist was born in Bari on 27 April 1979 but is now based and working in Milan.

He started painting in 1996, and in 2004 graduated from the Fine Arts Academy in Bari.

Over the years, Francolino’s work has explored the world of shadows, mixing installations, creative passages with ironic and painful depictions. In his artwork shadows, which were initially portrayed in a disoriented manner, take on a true and very distinct modern allure.

In addition Andrea Francolino gives a new dimension to Myth by (de)mythicizing it. By removing the mothballs from the pockets, shaking it, airing the room, and casting it in modernity.

In addition: he (trans)forms it to become a modern protagonist. He attaches labels to it, slogans or uses the play on words. Would you have ever gone as far as imagining that in Italian Ugo Foscolo rhymes with 7 nani, (the seven dwarfs)? Stalin, a butcher at the Coop? Ray Charles a testimonial of Breil? Lucrezia Borgia poisoning by means of Vernel? Martin Luther King sponsoring Omino Bianco? Alessandro Manzoni a fan of the Inter and of Salvador Dalì (in soccer art Dalì Kakà) cheering on Milan? Woody Aulin and Miao Tse Tung? Not only did Francolino imagine this, he was even physiognomic and pretended that their birth is celebrated today (or their death exorcized) amid a logo, a slogan, a payment slip and a shopping cart. And his (de)mythicizing – to be truly (de)mythicized: that is poked with irony, by poison, sarcasm, can do without oil on canvas and can stand even the sandpaper technique: metal brushes, sandpaper, car body repair stucco, and tar. Instead of  "putting" (painting), Andrea Francolino "takes away" by wearing down. Because by sanding away (de)mythization is at work.
